Decorist Review
CONCEPT 1: Rustic Eclectic

I've been wanting to redecorate our room since I first moved into my boyfriend's fully furnished home two-years ago. He built this amazing rustic home on the river but the interior design didn't do it justice. Everything was so bulky and brown; large brown bed, brownish/green wall, beige carpet, brown bedding, and light brown curtains. The master bedroom had lots of potential featuring a stone wall fireplace with lots windows that enables us to soak up the morning sun and view of the Columbia River.

I did my best with the first little bedroom makeover by first changing up the bedding and adding a few more decorative pieces. Since then I have a new found love for white and neutrals. But I also found it really challenging to blend my bohemian electric style with the natural rustic look of the home. I had an idea of how I wanted our new shared space to look and feel like but my idea of what I wanted got even more skewed as I tried to furniture shop. I've come to the realization I needed to relinquish control and let someone professional help me. Enter Decorist and designer Jessica McCarthy.

My Decorist Experience... so far

I first saw Decorist on Instagram and spent hours browsing through all the amazing work. Decorist was created to make great interior design accessible to everyone for a flat, affordable fee. It was so crucial for me because I live in Chelan, which is about 3 hours from any major cities without access to great designers. For a flat fee ranging from $200 – $800 (base on designers experience), you can get an entire room redesigned with an excellent plan. It was super easy process:

1. I started by choosing the room (my master bedroom) that I needed help with and then choosing a design package (Classic, Elite, or Celebrity). I went with a Classic Makeover for $199, and I after looking at all the designers portfolio, I asked to be paired with Jessica McCarthy.

2
. After choosing a room design package, I provided details about my room and budget, likes and dislikes, and then uploaded pictures of my room, inspiration photos, and gave her my Pinterest board.

I told them I wanted to get rid of all the brown in my room, get new rug, bed frame, and night stand.

3. My designer was able to give me 2 design concepts within a couple weeks of submitting photos and answering questions. I was so excited to see both the concepts but I was attracted to concept 1 immediately. I texted with Jessica throughout the process and gave her my feedback, and she did amazing finalizing my design.

4. My final design included a complete room design, custom floor plan, set-up instructions, and shopping list!

I've got most of my room setup already so be sure to look for my Decorist Review of my Master Bedroom Makeover Part 2!

*I was not paid for this post but did receive a makeover as compensation. I only recommend products or services I use personally and feel my readers will enjoy. All opinions are 100% mine.

FINAL DESIGN

There is nothing more essential than an oversized sweater and camel coat this time of year. I love the the cozy feeling of extra long sleeves falling into my hands that I can grip when cold. The camel coat from Chicwish that I am wearing today has cropped sleeves and waterfall-esque lapels that adds a splash of femininity. The oversized sweater is as perfect for lounging around the house as it is for dressing up and heading out on the town! When styling larger tops make sure it pair it with skinny jeans and fitted booties for a chic look!

Stay warm and Merry Christmas ladies!

Finding the Perfect NYE Dress

Ladies, New Year's Eve will be here faster than the ball drops at Times Square. If you haven't found the perfect dress for wherever this NYE takes you -- start! Finding the perfect NYE dress is usually an epic task but thanks to Nordstrom, I have found my perfect New Year's Eve outfit with ease.

For starters, you can always make a fierce entrance in a sultry red dress, stick with the chic little black dress, or even embrace old hollywood with a flapper dress. But since New Years Eve is all about new, sparkly, shiny things, I went with this gorgeous pleated-metallic dress that moves so beautifully.

Truthfully, I am all about comfort so I went with this dress also because it was free flowing and long enough to keep me warm (I am wearing crop long underwear under this. Shhh, don't tell!) I love the little cutout bodice with an accordion pleated skirt. To stay comfortable, for all night of dancing, I wore these amazing block heels (makes sure you size up). For finishing touches, I embellished it with my Christian Paul watch, extra jewels and green faux-fur clutch for the win.

Thanks Nordstrom for sponsoring this post.

There is nothing I love to slip on more than fur this time of year. There's something so chic about fur. This ombre fur coat is less than $50 but it looks so luxe. It adds a bit of warmth and luxuriousness to my casual outfit. I have had these distressed skinny crop jeans since last season. They do stretch a bit or I am loosing weight? Hopefully its the latter. I love still adore them though paired with high tops or booties.

My go-to shoes are my Chucks. And now with winter in full effect, these fur lined Chuck Taylors are perfect to keep me warm and comfy while I run around playing with the snow! I don't like pairing them with skinnies unless they are crop because it makes my thighs look big with skinnies.

What's your favorite go-to shoes?

Happy Friday and Snow Day!! Winter is in full effect and I am swooning over the snow. I love the snow because it makes everything outside seem so much brighter! Although it makes it a little harder for me to get outfit pictures taken (hashtag blogger problem). Luckily I have this gorgeous full length mirror (thanks mom) in my bathroom! I post them on snapchat and Instagram stories and I always get screenshots/requests for outfit details so I am starting a Snapchat Outfit details series.

Starting with the first outfit.. this shearling vest is 60% off! I am a size medium and I first ordered the small because it says small was equivalent to a 4-6 but it was too tight around my arms after layering with a oversized shirt. The coated moto skinny I am wearing runs large and it's super stretchy so definitely order size down! I bought this rounded hem pullover in gray which is sold out in most colors but similar ones here. Can we talk about my winter wedge boots though?? It gives me LIFE. Makes your legs look long and you can stay warm and still look super chic!

The Perfect Holiday Dress

Happy Monday! My boyfriend, Leif and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary in the cutest little town. From Thanksgiving through New Years this small town, Leavenworth in the alp-like mountains of Washington State comes alive with millions upon millions of christmas lights, constant caroling and amazing Christmas lighting ceremonies. I truly love the holidays - from the food, to the quality time you get to spend with close ones, and of course the holiday parties!

In my previous post, I talked about what to wear to a holiday party that is not a dress because I don't often wear dresses. But when I do, I find everything I need from Nordstrom. Nordstrom is my favorite one-stop-shop for holiday dressing in-stores and online! Since I live 3 hours from the closest Nordstrom, I do all my shopping online. The FREE shipping & FREE RETURNS, makes is super easy for me to purchase what I want without stressing out about returns and exchanges. Plus, I can find everything from jewelry, like the necklace I am wearing, leopard clutch (that literally goes with everything), to my super comfy block heel pumps (size up half a size in the pumps).

When I look for my perfect holiday dress, I make sure to find something that is true to my aesthetic. Just because it's the holidays doesn't mean I have to wear something too flashy or sequins. I went with this little black lace slipdress that I can wear anytime of the year. It's super flattering and comfortable since it is black and looser fitting, but the best part is that this perfect little black dress is under $100. Can't beat that! Start planning your Holiday and New Years look with Nordstrom!

Thank you Nordstrom for sponsoring this post!
