They say women apparently dress to impress other women. I have to admit there is some truth to that. I remember spending hours in front of a mirror on Saturday nights with my girlfriends in mind as I was deciding what to wear. Not because I wanted to "out-do" my friends, but I wanted to make sure I dressed similar and not over or under dress. But honestly, the most genuine compliments I receive comes from women I don't know – not men. It makes sense as women are much more in the know when it comes to clothes, make-up and style, so it’s not a surprise that we go out to impress other women as opposed to men.

People have an image of themselves they want to maintain. Not in a negative way, just the way they perceive themselves and the person they want to be. It feels good to feel like you look good. At the end of the day, whether you dress with your peers or guys in mind, I think we all do it for ourselves and our self esteem. This is perfectly okay. So dress up, dress down, be naked.. just feel good and do good. Cheers my friends.

As I look at these pictures I am reminded about how random our weather has been. We had a few weeks of 90 degree weather in March and now in July, I am having to wear OTK boots and faux leather jacket. Thank goodness for this easy-breezy super soft chambray dress which keeps me warm and cool all at the same time. Loving all of YMI Jeans products. Summer days seem long but the months sure are short. One minute it's Friday night and then in the blink of an eye it's July! Oh you cruel, cruel world. But good news! It's practically the weekend. I have some friends coming over to Chelan to drink, eat, and you better believe I'll be having some fun. Last Saturday I attended my dear friends wedding, and ended up at Taco Bell for some late night regrets. Tonight, neighbors are blasting TSwift. In short, you never know where life will take you. Nordstrom Anniversary Sale + $1225 Giveaway!

Getting a zit is bad but popping a zit can be as disastrous as the blemish itself... I remember my most embarrassing moment in my early 20's. It was the night before a big date with a guy I was swooning over and of course there was a huge pimple size of a moon right above to my lips. I should have listened to my mom's advice to never pick, gouge, pop, scratch or squeeze the damn zit. But I wanted it gone! The horrid I went through that evening trying all these ways to conceal it all but making it worse. The pimple not only came back bigger, but it left a scar for about a month. Someone even pointed it out at one point, thinking I had food on my lips. Yeah really embarrassing. But eventually, EVENTUALLY, it dried up and healed. Oh and that guy? My zit definitely lasted longer than him. The moral to this story? First, never pop a zit (especially not for a guy!); and second, always make sure to have good acne products, like Zapzyt, on hand.

I'm now almost thirty (shhh, don't tell) and I still break out especially around that time of the month but Zapzyt has saved me on many occasions. I've been using their Acne Treatment Gel for 3 years (yes it WORKS). I accidentally found it at Walmart for $5, it's cheaper than the other brands, and gave me amazing results. Using it on the problem areas with moisturizer, and not all over my face, is what worked best for me. I’ve passed on the products to both my siblings in middle/high school and it has worked well for them. I wish I had known about these products back in high school days…Oh how I don’t miss you puberty.

Distressed, Lace-ups, and Cutouts All-Day Everyday

My fridge is covered with beautiful 'save the dates' and wedding invitations for this summer (Congrats Brett & Kristen, Jessica & Noel, Vanessa & Jeremy!). My mind is buzzing of what to wear but wedding dress codes come with a lot of stipulations — not too short, not too flashy, and please, please don't wear white (eggshell or cream!). I want to look my best but I know I don't want to be that girl. You know, the one who showed up looking like a two-dollar hooker or worse, obviously trying to upstage the bride.

Even for a fashion blogger, deciding what to wear to a wedding isn't easy at the best of times. Weddings are a pretty formal affair where dresses are seen as the female uniform of choice but if you're like me, and don't want to wear a conventional fitted dress it can feel insurmountable. I am not big on wearing dresses and skirts which is why I am a romper ambassador. When I found this peach romantic romper I am wearing, I knew I could say yes to the romper. It isn't too short and still looks very dressy and girly. A good rule of thumb to follow when finding something is to keep the look well-tailored, romantic, and pulled together. Think women's tuxedos, jumpsuits, suits and dressy pants including palazzo pants, in dressy fabrics and textures, like chiffons, silks, lace, and floral details (I have linked some of my favorite options below).

There is obviously nothing wrong with wearing a dress but I love knowing it's not my only option. Also, remember to wear your dancing shoes - thick soles, wedges, platforms are great dressy comfortable shoes (my favorite go-to platform espadrille are back in stock and under $75!) And if you really have to wear 5-inch stilettos just pack a cute pair of flats for later!
